Colin Dussault's Blues Project unleashes its 10th album at tonight's Colinized! CD-Release Party. The Lakewood quintet's founder considers the 13-track compilation of blues and gospel standards his band's tightest after 18 years on the Cleveland club circuit. "It was really insane. After playing 300 dates during the last year, it was like, bam!" says Dussault. "On one song, we all ended on the same note at precisely the same moment. It was like, 'Wow! How did that happen?'" The disc also spotlights such venerable local blues musicians as Mr. Stress, Becky Boyd, and Butch Armstrong. The Prayer Warriors and the Tony Koussa Horns also lend some help on remakes of Hank Williams' "Jambalaya," Van Morrison's "And It Stoned Me," and Keb' Mo's "She Just Wants to Dance." "I've got better over the years, and I've surrounded myself with a better cast of players," says Dussault. "They definitely make me sound good."
